How DuraFlex Products Fail - and How We Fix Them
- DuraFlex aluminum caps with rusted rivets. The standard DuraFlex cap that ships with their liner kits uses aluminum rivets at the collar. Around Reading we see those rivets let go after five or six winters because of the freeze-thaw swings. The cap stays on, but it rattles in the wind and lets rain slip past the collar. We drill out the old rivets, install stainless hardware, and re-seal with high-temp silicone. Takes under an hour and beats replacing the whole cap.
- DuraFlex stainless liner tops with failed chase covers. When the liner is fine but the flat chase cover above it rusts at the seams, water pools and runs down the outside of the DuraFlex pipe. The unlined flues get capped on the liner itself, but the surrounding crown stays exposed. We fabricate a multi-flue cap that covers the entire footprint, so the whole crown stays dry and the DuraFlex collars never see standing water.
